R‑Evo Smart® S combines the essential functions required for cataract surgery and anterior vitrectomy within a compact system that can be conveniently integrated into the operating room. Featuring both Peristaltic and Venturi pumps, it enables surgeons to select the aspiration mechanism that best suits each surgical phase, preferred technique and desired level of control.
Two Pump Technologies in One System
Choose between flow-based and vacuum-based aspiration control
The Peristaltic pump enables independent aspiration-flow settings and generates vacuum when occlusion occurs, supporting procedures that require deliberate flow control. The Venturi pump generates vacuum directly to facilitate efficient material holding and aspiration. The availability of both mechanisms gives surgeons greater flexibility when configuring aspiration performance for each stage of phaco surgery.
Agile Fluidics™
Active fluidics management designed to support anterior chamber stability
Agile Fluidics™ uses a microprocessor-controlled active irrigation system to increase or decrease pressure within the irrigation source, compensating for intraocular fluctuations generated during aspiration. Working together with Dynamic IOP Control, the system supports management of the programmed intraocular pressure and helps mitigate surge, contributing to a more stable surgical environment.
Minimal Stress™
Optimised ultrasound delivery, even when the phaco tip is under load
Minimal Stress™ technology uses feedback-controlled energy delivery to the piezoelectric crystals within the phaco handpiece. It helps maintain consistency between the programmed and actual phaco-tip stroke, even when the tip encounters resistance from a hard lens nucleus. This enables ultrasound energy to be delivered consistently according to the requirements of each surgical case.
Flexible and Customisable Aspiration Settings
Configure system response according to the surgeon’s preferred technique
R‑Evo Smart® S provides a vacuum range of 5–650 mmHg. With the Peristaltic pump, aspiration flow can be adjusted from 1–65 cc/min, while vacuum rise time is selectable across 25 levels from 0.5–12 seconds. The Venturi pump offers fast or slow vacuum-rise settings. These programmable parameters support customised performance throughout different phases of surgery.
Expanded Anterior Segment Capabilities
Phacoemulsification, anterior vitrectomy and bipolar diathermy in one system
In addition to phacoemulsification at an ultrasound frequency of approximately 40 kHz, R‑Evo Smart® S supports anterior vitrectomy at 60–5,000 cuts per minute with a standard cutter and 120–10,000 cuts per minute with Twedge™ dual-blade technology. Bipolar diathermy and footpedal control further consolidate essential anterior-segment functions within a unified surgical platform.
